Next to Halloween, making Christmas cards is my favorite. lately I’ve been having so much fun creating these snowy, pastel backgrounds using Distress Oxide sprays, ink splatters, white pigment, embossing folders and whatever other media I can grab to make a cool, blustery background. For the colors on this card, I took inspiration from the “Hello Frosty” Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground and tried to mimic the color palette.

I found this great Sizzix die and thought it made a perfect shaker window. My daughter recently told me how she loves to look into people’s windows at night as we drive by, so I thought I would create that feeling of peeking in to a little scene. I used the “Comfort & Joy” stamp set from Brutus Monroe to create my little indoor scene through the window. I masked the different elements to create depth and did my best to stick to the color palette. I tried to use complimentary shades of green on the tree. The inside sentiment is from the same stamp set in Salty Ocean Distress ink to compliment the Salty Ocean Oxide Spray I used on the front.

Creating this card reminded me of making dioramas in grade school. I had a lot of fun creating this. I hope you enjoyed a peek inside.
